HOTEL: The Venetian
LOCATION: Las Vegas, Nevada
SUBJECT: Night exterior looking toward the Strip
In the "better lucky than good" department once again, this evening exterior of The Venetian was aided by a gift from mother nature. A non-predicted spat of heat-generated lightning brought an unexpected yet welcome element to this image. It was a hot August evening, and the original image was cropped tighter so as not to include much of the Strip area, including much of The Mirage across the street. When the lightning started, I adjusted my position to include the night time spectacle. The result was a much more dramatic shot than what we had originally planned.
I can't remember how many times I've been asked if this image was computer enhanced or altered in any way - the emphatic answer is no! One of the few images that we haven't retouched in some way, shape, or form - and the results were quite stunning.
If you haven't taken a spin on a gondola, it comes highly recommended. How ironic is it that out in the middle of the desert they seem to have so much water? Las Vegas is filled with wonderful water features, but the canals within the Venetian are truly spectacular.
