HOTEL: Hotel Deca
LOCATION: Seattle, Washington
SUBJECT: King Deluxe Room
What more can a growing photographer ask for? A stylish, colorful room with a nice blue sky right outside the window is what we always hope for. A room like this on such a gorgeous day can pretty much shoot itself, right? Well, not exactly. Often its the rooms and situations with the strongest elements that can cause the most problems.
Take for example that lush brown throw at the foot of the bed, draped across the clean white bedding. Two tones that are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Only with our step-process lighting were we able to bring out the detail in the throw, yet hold the highlights in the bedding. Traditional photography just wouldn't do this room justice.
Light styling can also accentuate and balance areas of the room. Notice the two small bud vases holding the yellow lilies. We purchased them earlier in the morning at the world-famous Pike Place Market in Seattle. What a great life - having the ability to write-off fresh flower purchases...
